Air Force School, Chandannagar was established in August 1965 with the primary objective of promoting quality education for the wards of Air Force personnel. The school is affiliated with Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi and is run by Indian Air Force Education and Cultural Society as a recognized unaided school.
The school, which had a humble beginning in 1965 with one teacher and fourteen students functioning in a single room of the Air Force quarters, has grown into a full-fledged Senior Secondary School (10+2) with the strength of about 1200 students and 85 staff members.
Although the school was established primarily for the benefit of children of Indian Air Force personnel, it has always been open to wards of Army and Navy personnel as well as to civilians.
