Air Force Schools in India are generally considered unaided private schools, managed by the Indian Air Force Educational & Cultural Society, not directly run by the government, though they serve children of Air Force personnel and receive some government support (like land) and tax benefits. The Supreme Court has even ruled they are not “state” entities under the Constitution, confirming their private, contractual nature, even with their strong IAF affiliation and public funding aspects.
